It's been more than half a year since we last caught up with our friends at barre|noire and there has been a lot going on! And now there is even something in it for YOU!

They are still growing up as a child of the beloved capital, Berlin, but one could say the label is now entering the stage of adolescence. With designs that they define as a "conservative business look", Timm Süssbrich and Aleida Roser are striving for the stars in fashion-heaven!

These days all eyes are on the Berlin Fashion Week: big labels, famous designers and haute couture wherever you turn. And although hundreds of young labels applied and competed for a chance to show their designs on the catwalk, it was the designers of barre|noire who earned a place in the Ramazotti Runway Award competition as one of six labels a jury chose as the best of the applicants. They were able to showcase their new spring-summer collection (S|S 2011) to a select audience of professionals. Along with two other labels from Berlin, one from Munich, and Slovenian and Israeli labels, models wore barre|noire's clothes as they walked and posed on the catwalk.

Although based in Berlin and love working there they believe that "Berlin isn’t yet in competition with the fashion metropolises of Europe" and this is why they want to move their focus out of the capital for their next collection. They are currently looking for retail partners all over Germany, and further beyond in France and Switzerland, to allow their designs to be available to a larger clientele.

However, they still love Berlin. "We get our inspiration from the city, the architecture and its people". Berlin's famous diversity has also influenced the designers, who state that "it's good growing up surronded by so much creativity and so much inspiration!"

Although their S|S 2011 collection will not be mass-produced as it was designed purely for the runways, the couture pieces will be sold at the Berlin Fashion Network Concept Store from August on. However, they are currently selling t-shirts, also at the BFN Concept Store - but there's only a limited number available. They only produced two designs for 15 pieces: a t-shirt and a tanktop (both for women) made of eco-cotton. The design is hand-drawn and self-printed by the two designers and there are very few left!

These designs are from an upcoming line of barre|noire's. The designs and material will still be first-class but the fashion will be more affordable.
