Brother's Blood is one of those songs that completely and utterly takes your breath away. The album of the same name is also a treasure - though the album version of Brother's Blood doesn't quite do the song justice - it's seeing Kevin Devine bellow it out live that makes those hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Having witnessed Devine earn the respect of the Munich people while supporting Nada Surf in July, Matchless decided to catch up with the Brooklyn singer-songwriter.

Nada Surf could have so easily been a one-hit-wonder, up there with Falco, Babylon Zoo and Vanilla Ice. Composed of verses, consumed by words of a dreamy substance, that has its roots in the social and cultural resistance that defines her; Patti Smith is still at the center of struggles and revolutions as she has been for the past few decades.
